Communalism Combat contacted the chairman of the National Minorities Commission at his office in New Delhi. We told Mr. Shamim that his observations would be particularly valuable for our readers since given his position, he would be particularly equipped with facts. Declining to make any comments on the phone, he invited the editors of Combat to Delhi for a face-to-face meeting. Since that was not practical, we offered to fax our questions to him so that he could give a written response. But that, too, was not acceptable to Mr. Shamim. "What is the hurry?" he said, "we can talk whenever you come to Delhi".
